MARCH - EPISODE III: SPRING 2018

WISDOM OF THE SAGES
EPISODE III: SPRING 2018
Hello People of the World;

Oh No! It’s raining these days! GASP! How could the world turn and the seasons change so suddenly that you are once again, caught unawares, that in your impotence can do nothing but complain that it rains, some how, in the spring. What are we to do as human beings on the earth, when the weather changes so unexpectedly, season to season? Give up, I guess.

Here we are in March and spring has sprung. Seriously, I cannot think of anything more to add. All right, let’s get going:

1:[ Opening thoughts: Let’s face it – You forgot you saw Star Wars The Last Jedi, didn’t you? Even though it’s on DVD now….

2:[ I don’t know how clear the original Star Wars could have been. The Rebels discovered a weakness – an exhaust port, beneath the main port. Most things mechanical with a power source have an exhaust. You have an anus, for instance. This is NOT a plot hole! I can hear you know “but, but, but-.”

The Empire KNEW it was there and a potential hazard! People forgot that it was “Ray Shielded!” Meant, it was protected. Otherwise anyone could have dropped a severed hand in there and it would have blown up. That is why the Rebels needed to use Proton Torpedoes, which could penetrate the ray shield. Just if people just pay attention we wouldn’t have needed that stupid fucking “Rogue One” to make things stupider for people…

3:[ Black Panther Review? It has taken me a while to gather my thoughts. It is a great movie and has had such a large impact for many audiences. Of course, there is, or, will be backlash. There always is when people do not want to admit something like a “Black Panther” can be a hit. I love that non-African and non-African-Americans are suddenly African cultural political experts in discussing why they don’t like the movie.

I thought it was pretty good with probably the tightest Marvel script in their MCU. The characters matched T-Challa’s charisma shown in “Civil War” and it went a long way to serve as an origin story for Black Panther, Killmonger, fit in the MCU pantheon as well as the over Infinity War story arc, touch on issues that affect African and African American peoples, while being both a representation and voice for those audiences, and become a cultural touchstone for them as well. Which it all does, thanks to Ryan Coogler’s direction.

Go see it again.

4:[ What if we had to trade places with the people we do charity for? Charity would dry up immediately, because the Ice Bucket Challenges and Stair Climbing and the Walks for Life are for us, because we’re fucking heroes and not the kid fighting cancer.

It has gotten so self-masturbatory and vainglorious that it is fucking labeled “Hero” Registration for the Shamrock Shuffle. Seriously? Trade places with the people you are doing the awesome thing for. It would save their lives, you know, if that actually mattered to you….

5:[ I have been listening to way too much “Lonely Island” music because so much of it reminds me of the attitude in Native American Art…

6:[ “Toys R US” is going out of business. Another big corporation could not compete with the online market. Here we are now, lamenting the death of childhood memories, the death of the working class in the loss of jobs, and yet, we still have the fucking gall to pick the bones of Toys R Us when they need to sell off their inventory. I am so happy all those people you were lamenting could lose their jobs just so you can take the 60% discount on toys, fucking TOYS, cheap plastic shit you’ll throw away in year, or, worse, sell off yourself keeping those profits for yourself while never even thinking of buying there before this to try and keep the industry and jobs alive. How dare you…

7:[ I am not  sports fan, I hate the Blackhawks. (Change the Logo!) But hearing that an ordinary schlub of an accountant came off the bench as a replacement goalie for the “Hawks” and out-performed their contact-clad players is a testament to how shitty a job those guys were doing in the first place. I get the underdog angle and I am genuinely glad for the fellow. But make no mistake; their previous goalies were horrible if they could not stop seven straight goal attempts. Or maybe he just has not played an entire game and his performance would have slacked off by the end. Weird how we grapple on to such things while the earth keeps turning….

That is it for this month.

As always, I invite you to comment, correct, or contradict anything I write here. I am open to a critical debate. Thanks for taking the time to check out what I write here and I will see you in a month.

Until next time, remember “I try to show the schemers how pathetic their attempts to control everything really are.”
