NOVEMBER - EPISODE XI: FALL 2021

 WISDOM OF THE SAGES
EPISODE XI: FALL 2021

Hello People of the World;

Here we are as the weather grows cooler once again. I have had to break out the long underwear this past week.

Otherwise, it was Native American Heritage Month. But that really ended once Thanksgiving was over. So, there’s that.

As always: Stay safe. Stay home.

 All right, let’s get going:

1:[ This virus really showed how equal we all really are: How we have been exposed to fact that we have always, forever, bitched about the smallest of shit – especially movies. Since we were isolated in a pandemic, we see what we are more clearly: irrelevant.

2:[ “Belfast” Review: This is probably Kenneth Branagh’s best non-Shakespeare film. Branagh is probably my most favorite director, he has dabbled in many genres and I can appreciate that. Here, one half of the Top Review Team wandered into the Covid wastelands to catch his latest, most-personal film yet.

"Belfast" is a semi-autobiographical telling of young Buddy and his working class family struggling to stay in Belfast during beginning of The Troubles. The cinematography is great, the acting very good, especially Judi Dench and Ciarán Hinds, representing the elder generation.

There are some minor Branagh flourishes that I recognize, as he does have a certain style. But here everything but the perspective of young Buddy, played excellently by newcomer Jude Hill, is understated and solemn, a different turn from Branagh's stagey stylizations. Still, TOP TEN of 2021

3:[ You would think that movie reactors, at this point, would be reacting to BETTER movies….

4:[ This Phase 3 Re-opening just made the world miserable again: You would think that wearing masks on the CTA would cover the smell…

5:[ Reading the “Mystery of the Three Glades”, I can see how the authorship has been in question. It reads like someone’s total misunderstanding of the Sherlock Holmes character. Sort of Snyder-Holmes….

6:[ I am a fan of the Chibnall Era of “Doctor Who”, it really changed up the status quo after over fifty years of canon. Canon is the death of creativity. Seriously, if the Timeless Child happened to be Matt Smith’s Doctor, no one would have had a problem with it. Because the Moffett Era turned the Doctor into the freaking center of the universe. But since the Center of the Universe is now Jodi Whittaker, we’ll, NOW we have a problem with that.

7:[ We cannot go back to “Normal” all after this: We need to start taking science serious again to prevent all of this shit from happening again… provided we make it out of the current shit we are in right now because of our stupidity….

That is it for this month.

As always, I invite you to comment, correct, or contradict anything I write here. I am open to a critical debate. Thanks for taking the time to check out what I write here and I will see you in a month.

Until next time, remember “I try to show the schemers how pathetic their attempts to control everything really are.”
