MAY _ EPISODE V: SPRING 2021

WISDOM OF THE SAGES
EPISODE V: SPRING 2020

Hello People of the World;

Here we are in the midst of Spring. The weather is cooling. Though we had a heat spell there a couple of days back. Yet, even now, we can complain about the weather. One more thing we cannot control.

States are opening up again while we are only at 30% vaccination. The rate needed for Herd Immunity is 70%. So, get ready for another wave. May not be as big as the first one, which will allow many to dismiss it.

As always: Stay safe. Stay home.

 All right, let’s get going:

1:[ This virus really showed how equal we all really are: I have come to realize, we don’t care about being safe. We only really care about having brown people serve us stuff….

2:[ My Latest Movie Reviews:

“Minari” was not as great as everyone says. But I think it gets it praise for the representational baggage it carries. I wish we cared more about Native American films as we do every other community.

“Woman in the Window” was one I really looked forward too. But I read the twist (If I am honest, the film telegraphs it, HARD). I really didn’t care for how much it punched down on a person with mental issues. Plus, I hate it when films make reference to the better film. (She watches “Rear Window” a lot) Sorry, Gary Oldman was phoning it in here. If I wanted to see him smack people around, I’ll stick to TMZ.

“Mulan (2020)” is much better than we give it credit for. People are made because it wasn’t the ’96 cartoon. Of course, it shouldn’t have to be. For me, it touched on nostalgia just enough as to not make it cloying and it tried to do its own thing with the story. People are mad because it pushed a “girl power” agenda. Yeah, because an ancient Chinese story about a young woman who disguises herself as a soldier (NOT a man) to save her father, shouldn’t be about “girl power”. Man, are we so tied to nostalgia that to deviate from an older representation makes us mad? Well, that explains Native Americans in media. (Or, Life, for that matter.) I enjoyed it.

3:[ So, the other day in chatting with my Bonnie, I misremembered Bob Evans’ name (I couldn’t remember just then typing this.) that I called him Bob Ross, instead. It hit me then, that why didn’t Bob Ross make his own food line, including microwavable mashed potatoes that he would call “Happy Little Clouds”?

4:[ They should make it a rule that once you get in line to check out, you are done shopping. None of this “Wait here while I grab 600 more things!” horse shit…

5:[ The really, really messed up thing about the Coronavirus and the ensuing pandemic, quarantine, and deaths, was that it was all so very, very easily PREVENTABLE….

6:[ We cannot go back to “Normal” all after this: the sheer amount of people who cannot afford healthcare or insurance is astounding and yet we still cling to this structure as a good and normal thing. I get it, without the insurance industry, you will be losing people their jobs. Which shouldn’t be the reason we deny people healthcare, but we are really underestimating these folks at being able to get other jobs. With healthcare that is free, more people will have more to spread in other industries and maybe some huge corporation can create more jobs as a result. Yeah, we cannot go back to “normal”…

7:[ Yeah, I’m never watching “The Snyder Cut”. I don’t like letting bullies win….

That is it for this month.

As always, I invite you to comment, correct, or contradict anything I write here. I am open to a critical debate. Thanks for taking the time to check out what I write here and I will see you in a month.

Until next time, remember “I try to show the schemers how pathetic their attempts to control everything really are.”
