EPISODE II: WINTER 2021

Hello People of the World;

 

Here we are inching closer to a yea-long quarantine. It is amazing how much we think this stupid thing is over. We barely care that people are dying and make up stupid shit to make ourselves more special than were are. Stupid.

 

Equally stupid? It dumped snow on us here and many places and we all act surprised that “It’s not supposed to SNOW DURING WINTER!” As is nature every cared about what you think. We are not special to Nature. We need to learn that.

 All right, let’s get going:

 

1:[ I have been finding a ton a Setsuko Hara films online. In this last month I watched her performances in “Repent”, “The Sound of the Mountain”, “Tokyo Sweetheart”, “Blue Mountain Part I” and “Blue Mountain Part II”. I also started watching “Daughter of the Samurai” the German co-production propaganda film she was in a 16. It is crazy to see how the Nazi swastika was just everywhere then. I am working on a script for a video about Setsuko Hara and her role in “Tokyo Story” but I also want to examine how our gaze paints an impossible image of “The Eternal Virgin” that she had to live with for many years.

 

2:[ I saw “I Care a Lot” and “The Dig” recently on Netflix. I enjoyed “The Dig” but hated “I Care a Lot”. “I Care a Lot” I think was supposed to make you hate the main character, but they pitted her against “worse” people: The Russian Mob, so as it paints her a bit as the bad guy. It did not work for me.

 

3:[ I am going to end my YouTube book series at 100 episodes. I think I have more books lying around but I cannot find most of them since I moved. I loved a couple of beloved copies of “Three Kingdoms” somewhere. Anyway, I will be doing videos on “Go Set a Watchman” soon, so I am banking the shorter videos to give me time to produce that before getting into longer videos on my Top Ten books individually.

 

4:[ Next month on the 9^th, I will have been officially in quarantine for a year. But that same day I will be breaking it to go to work shooting a video for a local museum. I had hoped things would be better out there, but we are a dumb species. My Bonnie wants to throw an online “party” with friends to celebrate the year in isolation.

 

5:[ I am seeing a lot of hate toward the Foreign Press Association for its lack of diversity in its membership. That goes away when our favorites win a Golden Glaobe….

 

6:[ We cannot go back to “Normal” all after this…. Yet, it appears that we are fighting tooth and nail to get back to status quo. And we all thought an election would change everything….
